Ciledug underpass to finish next year

The construction of an underpass on Jl. H.O.S. Cokroaminoto and an overpass on Jl. Bypass Sudirman will be completed before the scheduled date in May, 2008, an official says.

"These Tangerang-based projects, funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), are almost finished. The construction of the overpass is 60 percent complete and the underpass is about 80 percent complete. I think both projects will be finished before the scheduled date in May," the city administration's Public Works Agency director, Engkan Lengkana Ranu, said over the weekend, as quoted by Tempointeraktif news portal.

Lengkana said the Ciledug underpass, which is being built by PT Jaya Konstruksi, would reduce congestion at the intersection between Jl. H.O.S. Cokroaminoto and Jl. Raden Fatah.

"According to the contractor's report, the underpass should be able to open in February, 2008, which will improve access to Jakarta from Tangerang," he said. --JakartaPost
